This 2-hour online course equips scientists with essential skills to effectively communicate their research in the face of science myths, fake news, denialism, and anti-science rhetoric. The masterclass combines theoretical foundations with practical dos and don’ts, which we will discuss over specific examples. The course draws insights from the latest papers in psychology and the social sciences—by the end, participants will be familiar with the concept of mental models, storytelling techniques and what interventions are effective (but especially, which ones are not effective) when attempting to bust a myth or debunk a conspiracy theory.
